Twisted Rotation: Sum 41 "Does this look infected?"

The guitar riffs. The blazing rock n' roll attitude.
The sharp wit. Yes, all that with pop punk sprinkled on top.
For some reason, maybe it's the hellcat in me, I've been playing this album everyday.
Maybe it's all of the above things that make this album so magnetic to me.
Whatever it is, it's got me.
All I do in the car is play air guitar and air drums.
At work, I put my headphones in...and yes...play air guitar.
Sum 41's sophomore effort reeks of the idols and legends that influence them (Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Beastie Boys, NOFX).
Some would say the album dims in commercial success in comparison to its elder, All Killer No Filler.
This may be true, but if you're really curious about the quality, I assure you it was amped up.
Does this look infected? is no doubt harder, edgier and darker.
Never would I have coined myself a Sum 41 fan (I know, I'm so late). That was until I gave a chance to their follow up albums.
If you crave more edge served with the pop punk our generation grew up with you'll eat this up.
Music has definitely been something I latch my feelings on to, especially in these times.
I'd definitely say my attitude these days is on the up and up, I'm just more fed up.
People could really spare me with their righteousness in justifying their heartless behavior.
I guess it's true, there really are stages to growth.
This just happens to be where I am, and this punch of rock n' roll exemplifies it all.
Here's my favorite song from the album, it means so much:
Over My Head (Better off dead)

XOXO,
Tia

Audio Therapy: Megan and Liz Are You Happy Now

I've been listening to Megan and Liz for about the past two years. I first found out aboutthem because they did a cover of Demi Lovato's song Catch Me so periodically Iwould go back to their youtube page to listen to their covers because they are extremely talented and I love their voices. A few months ago I fell in love with their song Maybe Possibly (great break-up song) which showed that they were talented song writters also, but tonight I just watched their video Are You Happy Now. This song is a great song that promotes anti bullying which I am all for, it is one of the things I hate most in this world. The video has such a strong message and I'm really happy that by them doing this a younger audience might be able to see that bullying is wrong. I probably sound like a cheesy PSA right now so I'll leave it at that and let you guys watch the video after the jump.

Audio Therapy: Jojo Disaster

I dont know about all of you guys but, personally, I'm way too excited! Jojo has a new album called Jumping Trains coming out soon. She has gone through a diffacult journey after being dropped from her old label, so I'm just happy that a talented artist like her is back on her feet. Plus I've been missing this girls music (I was going through withdrawls)
She has a new single and video out called Disaster. I love it! For some reason though she kind of reminds me of Linsay Lohan in this video ( her look and demeanor, not voice). It's a great song and video. So you should check it out.
“I call my music ‘pop with an anger-management problem,’ because it’s a little on the edge,”
I love this quote!

K.I.D.S

I fell in love with Mac Miller the second I heard him on one of Chris Webby's song I Need  A Dollar but once I heard his own music I have nothing but respect for him. He is only 19 years old and there's no question that he's going places. His music is so fun and he has made huge moves in music, which he deserves because he works hard. I'm also in love with his clothing merchandise, and its about that time for my birthday so hopefully someone with love me enough to buy me this sweatshirt, tank top, or baseball tee.

Back To Reality

Everyone has problems going on in their lives and every so often we get consumed in our issues and for get that there are other and much bigger things going on in the world. I'm speaking from experience. The last couple of weeks haven't been the easiest weeks for me, usually I can move on and be productive, that has become easier to say than to do. We always need a little reminder that others have it worse off than we do and be thankful for what we do have. For me that reminder was this song.

I'm not the biggest Justin Bieber fan but I love this song. Hopefully we'll all be seeing better days

Audio therapy: No Doubt "Sunday Morning"

"I know who I am, but who are you?

You're not looking like you used to
You're on the other side of the mirror
So nothing's looking quite as clear
Thank you for turning on the lights"

All hail Gwen Stefani, my ultimate idol.
All hail No Doubt, one of my favorite bands.
Any song off of Tragic Kingdom is classic, and this happens to be one of the greats.
I've probably used Tragic Kingdom with every heartbreak scenario and with each listen I'm astounded by the melodies and lyrics.
They literally turned a torturous breakup into sunny ska-pop... Now that's genius!
As with any of the audio therapy song features I truly identify with each lyric.
Loving someone while they become a changeling is BOGUS.
I could go on for days...but Gwen looks and sounds much better doing this than me.

Tia

Audio therapy:Mandy Moore "Nothing you are"

"I could never do those things you did to me

I will be ok
In time you'll fade
Into the nothing that you are"

This song hails from Mandy Moore's album "Wild Hope". I've never been a huge fan of her music. I acknowledge her talent but her songs never really caught my ear. That is until I heard this one. Remember my last post about 60 emotions in 60 days? Well word for word this explains my situation in epic fashion.
I love the passion she put behind it and the way the melody and lyrics were composed. It's ok to be angry. That's what is so great about music, it almost alleviates that hovering emotion after taking it in.
Thanks Mandy!
Hope you enjoy it.

Album Of The Week: Speak Now

The first time I heard this album was when I was at my best friends house, and I instantly fell in love with every single song on the album. She has grown so much as an artist since her first album slef titled album in 2006. I can relate to all of  her songs which probably plays a major role in why I like her so much. She is truly an artist that you can grow-up with. My favorite song on the album would have to be between Speak Now, Better Than Revenge,The Story Of Us, and Mean.

Artist Of The Week: Lupe Fiasco

Great song. I personally would have gone in a different direction for the video but that doesn't change how uplifting and inspirational the song is.

Loving Yourself

I think in general we all have insecurities, and occasionally that can take over our whole lives. We spend more time thinking about what others think of us instead of how we see ourselves. Even though I will admit that to a certain extent what others think of us, and say about us will take a toll on our self esteem sometimes, but you have to remember that most of those people don't know who you are on the inside, and most of us are beautiful people. We just need to remind ourselves now and then.

Teeny Bopper Inside Me

I have to admit the I was too in love with the Jonas Brothers a couple of years back. As it always happens with teenage crazes, their popularity died down a little. In my opinion it was because they stayed on the Disney Channel, but last night I couldn't fall asleep so I was up surfing Youtube and I decided to look at old Jonas Brothers videos and I came across this one video that I use to love and it'd always make me laugh.

Madonna

Isn't she too cute : )
So today I was just thinking in my head, 'Do I believe in love?' and then Madonna popped into my head and I couldn't stop singing Express Yourself. This song is officially my anthem for today.

Band Of The Week: Good Charlotte

Images Via: GC State
I don't even know where to begin. I've been listening to these boys for as long as I can remember. They've never turned their back on their fans and I will never turn my back on them. They are my all time favorite band, and I will always support them.

Great Day To Get Lost

Sitting in mt freezing cold house just staring at the sun outside made me want to just burst. So I decided to get up and take a trip (not too far from home) and look at the beautiful nature. In the process of dong that, I became so lost! But in all honesty I could have cared less at that moment. The day was beautiful, I had good tunes, and enough gas to get me back home. This day just got me ready for the warm weather.

it's been too long...

There's been very few modern day people/artist who fully inspire me.Our current day media is overflowing with socialites, reality stars and half talented entertainers who have an uncanny lucky streak. But for as long as we make them trending topics on Twitter and Google, they will still be around. They scheme to find better ways to stay in the public eye and usually this means a scandal must follow...not a display of true talent. Talent is scarce these days. Maybe it isn't, maybe it's just what people tire of. People seem more interested in paparazzi and the next reality craze. In music we see pretty much half-assed stars making moves currently. Despite what makes more noise and earns more views, I deep down refuse to believe that western society no longer believes in truly being entertained. If this is so then why do we consistently mourn the loss of great artists from the past? Because they were great during their time on earth and their legacy while here was strong enough to impact us after their death. A great person can impact you even if you've never known them (crazy huh?). Aaliyah is no exception. Every year I wonder what she would've accomplished had she still been alive. No doubt she'd be making moves in a subtle yet gigantic way like the true lady she was.

Band of The Week: Paramore

 image via:Paramore

Paramore is a phenomenal band. When music started going completely downhill for my taste, Paramore was always there to give me hope that music could go back on the right track. I hope that the band won't completely split or just disappear all together since Josh and Zach Farro left the band. But to make this short since I can;t say Paramore is great 10 times without sounding repetitive, Paramore is just awesome.

Hello Sunny Skies

Today marked the end of finals for my first semester classes Junior year. Surprisingly leaving school today I literally walked out with a smile on my face and carried it all the way driving home too. The music on the radio that played while I was driving helped a lot to it just feels like this huge black cloud moved from over my head and I love it. One of the songs that played on the radio was The Dog Days Are Over by Florence + The Machine and I tell you I must have looked like a goober cheesing and dancing in the car but it was the greatest feeling.
