The universe loves Cory and Topanga

One day I will be like this...

.: Family First:.

This weekend Kenya & I went to visit our cousin Phillip at his wrestling tournament in Modesto.
I've always been a huge family person and have been feeling the lack of that presence in my life as of late.
So when the opportunity came to support him (he's 4th in the state), I jumped to it. What's an hour and 40 minute drive?
Since my tornado of unfortunate events this summer, I've really been taking any opportunity I can to discover myself on my own. A good chunk of this process has meant establishing my relationships with different people or people I already have a bond with. I've known Phillip all 19 years of his life but after moving from Southern California at 15 my bonds with my extended family took a backseat.
Spending time with him last night was probably one of the most memorable times of this year.
I'm so proud of what he has done for himself as a young man and even the person that he has grown in to.
Phillip is literally the most stand up person I know.
I know this sounds like a random blog post...It is!
But when you are mirrored and loved by someone who holds the same degree of loyalty, individuality and values as you after living with strangers; the feeling can only be described as a blood transfusion.
God makes fate happen and its a crazy thing.
My outlook on everything these last two weeks has changed tremendously.
x I want to continue to stay optimistuc through and through.
And when I say optimistic I do not mean an artificial optimism.
You know the kind that people use to cover up the dirt and the struggle...THE TRUTH?!
Yeah, no, not for me. I'll confront my truths but in a positive way, as in they won't last and I'll make it.
Just pure optimism and tenacity.
x I want to continue to be freakishly loyal to those that I love and have great experiences with them.
Even if this means avoiding getting lost in the daily hustle.
x being there for my family
x and lastly...just living! That's all you can do!
Such a refreshing weekend! Looking forward to more!
XOXO,
Tia

"My week with Marilyn" trailer

I honestly don't know which side of the fence I'm on with this trailer.
In general the storyline seems enticing, but it's Marilyn Monroe that has got me thrown.
Many biopics have tried to capture the very essence of the most famous woman of all time.
No one could even hold a candle to her.
Michelle Williams plays her during the filming of "The Prince and the Showgirl". This was a very trying time for her as it was considered a more serious role for her. She was out to prove something.
I'm really liking what I see as far as Marilyn's vulnerability but the voice of Monroe seems to never be perfect. It almost sounds kind of country :/.
I'll give Williams a fair shot but the lack of magic that is her "Marilyn Monroe" worries me.
While it worries me it just further cements the fact that Marilyn had created gold herself and was searching to achieve a greatness that had already been created; just not in the way she wanted.
Often imitated but NEVER EVER duplicated.
Thoughts?

XOXO,
Tia

Celebration of love: Allison & Kevin's wedding

This weekend my dear friends and I celebrated the next step in the beautiful union of our friends Kevin & Allison. It was such an honor to share this milestone with them. I can't believe I'm at that age where love becomes eternal for those around me. Just yesterday we were all silly kids in High School. The fact that we've all stayed friends over the years makes each milestone experience richer.

My table was so fun! Many of my old friends were seated with me and we had a blast building new memories, catching up and reminiscing on the old days.
How cute were the arrangements and settings?!

I wore a rare peach/vermillion BCBG Max Azria summer dress with my Miu Miu inspired Forever 21 heels and vintage porcelain rose earrings. I bought this dress FOUR YEARS AGO and have NEVER worn it. It was always too small for me, but since my weight has gone down I decided to try it on and hope for the best. It fit perfectly and I decided it was just right for the winery setting of the wedding.
This dress has pockets (LOVE) and a cinched waist with a retro 60's inspired neckline. When I purchased it, it felt like something I would've seen Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn in.

Pictures in mid sentence are awful, but you're able to see some part of my shoes.
LOL.
This is my girlfriend Robyn, lucky for me she's one of my absolute best friends.
She was so beautiful and hilarious at the wedding & reception.

Me & my little ThumbelTINA.
She looked gorgeous in her romper and red lipstick.

Tiara & I.
I love this girl too. She's been there and back with me and always gives me complete unbiased advice.
She keeps it real and tells me what I need to hear not what I want to.

The lovely bride and groom!

A relative of the bridal party volunteered to make a quilt for Kevin and Alli as a gift.
Each attendant could write on the square of fabric to contribute to this keepsake.
This was ours.
I can't wait to see the finish product of the quilt!
Here's a larger picture of my shoes.
At this point I was beat from the wine and the dance floor.
I love these heels, they were an absolute hit.
They are completely comfortable, the higher the better for me.
Complete bargain from Forever 21!
All in all a day to remember!
One of nothing but love and positivity!
Congrats Alli & Kevin!

XOXO,
Tia
